Happy New Year!

A little late, but it's the effort that counts, right?
I am officially re-open for business and ready to accept some major orders!!!
My Etsy shop is still under construction, but hopefully this year it will have it's grand opening! :)
I am also posting a new page on this blog with pictures of all my "ready to ship" products. If you can not wait the usual 10-15 days for shipping, pick from an adorable hat that's ready to ship!
I hope everyone's Holiday season was filled with joy! We saw a lot of family that we haven't seen, some in over 6 years! I have a lot of (37) cousins, and staying in touch is difficult, so any opportunity to see each other is always a great time!
Gotta get crafting!!!

here's a sneak preview...

Bread and Animal Hats!

You know what I love on a chilly fall day? Baking and crocheting...hence, homemade deeeeeeelicious banana bread

AND this new adorable monkey hat! This is a gift for Hannah's teacher who LOVES monkeys and is having a little boy in December! I'm kind of fond of monkeys myself, we call our youngest our little monkey, which proved very fitting today when he climbed out of his crib, but that a whole different story!  I hope she likes it!

In other news, I'm going to attempt setting up Etsy tomorrow. Setting up the shop, pictures, descriptions, getting it all linked with Facebook and the blog, so given the fact that I have three little ones, it should only take me about a month to get everything up and running! ;)
Stay Tuned!

I'm linking up to

Hats for a Cause

A friend of mine ordered some hats a couple weeks back. It was a hefty order, but I took the challenge. She needed 4 hats, all the same, with 4 interchangeable flowers each. As you know, I had a trying time coming up with what flower was best. I think I finally got it.
One of these hats is for her friend who just started chemotherapy. I don't know a lot about her, but I know she must be one amazing woman to fight this fight.
Here are the flowers I did. Each one will have an alligator backing so they can interchange, OR you can clip them to other things like purses, bags, sweaters, even dog collars!

Next up, an adorable cream hat for an adorable little sweet pea!

Flowers Flowers Everywhere!

(to the tune of "Colors Colors Everywhere" by the ever popular Steve from Blues Clues)
Let's face it. I can't think of anything without it quickly reminding me that I have children and I am NOT cool anymore. I find myself constantly humming tunes from Dora, Mickey, and pretty much any disney movie. I wish I were at least serenading myself to Laurie Berkner, but I fear my kids think she is a fraud. Just a big weird mom trying to look cool for the kids. Sorry Ms. Berkner, your plan failed in my house, as my kids see right through the whole "just a big kid pretending to be hip and cool singing about dinosaurs and flying pretzels" cover, my kids already live with 2 dweebs. The Man and I seem to constantly be trying to convince our children we're not total dorks. We've failed too.
So, instead of fighting it, I'm embracing it. I mean really, it's not like I don't already sound like a 70 year old woman with the fact that I crochet. (Love you Grandma) So I've taken it one step further and I'm trying out fabric flowers. I have looked at SO many you tube videos, tutorials, online patterns and pictures and I can not seem to get a really neat looking flower that looks good on the side of a hat. My current order is for some very special women and I need 4 interchangeable flowers on each hat. So I attempted a few "test buds" (did you see what I did there?! ok, that was my last attempt at trying to be cool, I promise).
I need your help! Here's what I've come up with so far:
This is one that would be super easy to make, but I think it lacks personality.

Then there's this one, (keep in mind, these are scrap fabrics, too, final colors will be muted reds, greens, purples, and blacks)

I love the outrageousness of this one, but we run into a tiny problem when we realize it sticks out about a foot from your head!

So then I thought about some flare...
Someone said, "less pimp, more chic"

I like this one, kind of, I don't know.

Then theres old reliable. The crocheted flower. Mixed with the fabric, it's sort of nice. Those fabric petals need to be a teency bit smaller, and maybe there should be six. Cause it kind of looks like a clover.
Or just a "bud". Ugh, this is too difficult.

Keep in mind that these are for adults too. So while it may look adorably cute to have a massive flower on a childs head, women usually aren't to keen on that.  I just really need a vote. Or ideas. Maybe I'm all flowered out. I need to "pick" your brains. Let your ideas "bloom" into reality.
(I really need to stop. My kids are bound to read this someday.)

Thank you!!

Girl's Visor Beanie

So I've learned in this blogging world that you just have to keep blogging. Imagine that, to be a successful blogger, keep blogging. Hmm. Deep.
But seriously. I am often one of those people who thinks "why would anyone care about what I do??" (thank you catholic guilt) and in turn, I don't blog about things that someone somewhere may possibly find interesting...at some point...for a few moments. :)
So I will keep blogging, even if it seems meaningless to me. After all, if the people on Jerseylicious have a following, someone MUST be interested in something I have to say!

In other news wouldn't you LOVE to see a little newborn girl in one of these?! It's way warmer than those hospital hats and looks way cuter to boot! Order your's today!!!!!
