I also love decorating for it. Making the house nice and cozy with darker colors, ambient lighting and touches of the outdoors everywhere! However, I have 3 small kids. Your typical ceramic kitschy decor does not last a moment in my house. And since I don't have a massive china cabinet with glass doors to hide all my lovely items, I have to take the other route and purchase non breakable, kid friendly decorations. Some are cute, I'll give you that. But most of the stuff I find is very, well, uh, childish. SO! I was perusing Someday Crafts and decided to try making something!!!
Here is what I came up with!
I cut 6 "football" like shapes out of my favorite orange fabric and surged them all together.
I flipped it right side out and had a hole in the top and bottom. I took another circle of orange and fusible webbed it to the bottom, stuffed the thing full and fused another circle on the top. I added a blanket stitch around the circle for reinforcement (remember my children) and after a couple buttons and a crocheted stem, voila! A cute little pumpkin that the punks won't wreck!
I think I'll make a few more in different sizes!
